SANDERS Says Thank You to his Many Supporters
"Your financial and volunteer support continues to grow and the campaign team thanks you as we prepare for the Fall."
I just want to take a minute to thank you for your support across the 19th Congressional District. We continue to welcome volunteers and set up phone banks in place in York, Camp Hill, Mechanicsburg, Carlisle, Shippensburg, Hanover, Red Lion, and Gettysburg.
If you want to open a phone bank in your community, or participate in one near you, just volunteer and we'll be happy to welcome you onto the team.
We are organizing students right now at Dickinson College, Shippensburg University, Gettysburg College, Messiah and York College and the response has been enthusiastic. We will sponsor a series of meet-n-greets as students return to those campuses.
We worked successfully with Governor Rendell and an array of national leaders this month to bring the only district wide infrastructure town hall summit to Central PA College in Summerdale. We have more leadership summits on pertinent issues coming soon.
Financial contributions continue to flow in and the numbers of contributors and amounts continue to grow, but we are a long way from our goal. We anticipate a strong media buy from the opposition closer to the election. The recent Supreme Court decision will permit a record investment by large corporations, like oil, Wall Street financial corporations, and even foreign multi-nationals to invest directly in our political system and that will largely benefit my opponent and other incumbent republicans.
The reality of the system is of course obvious to all of us.
The candidate with the most money usually wins. That's the simple reality we face. We are getting our message out; I'm getting positive feed back and support from many, many unhappy republicans, but we will need to use paid media to build name recognition and position our plan for the future of the district in the last weeks of the election campaign. And that takes real money.
We're doing out part. We're helping build the winning structure for the future in Adams, York and Cumberland County. We're talking to the media almost daily. We're moving around the district meeting new democrats, gaining the support of the party, attending fund raisers and talking to republicans at every opportunity.
Now we need your help. Your contribution today and throughout the campaign will make the difference in November. Your contribution today is an investment in a better more humane future for your children, grandchildren, friends and neighbors.
We can win this congressional seat if we pitch in and do our part. The incumbent continues to lose support daily. Attendance at his events is low. His attempt to get a government job lost him the support of more than a third of the party.
But it will take mass media to open the minds of those voters who know the system is broken through a decade of neglect and greed. They want change but don't know how to make change happen. We need to communicate to those voters where the leadership will come from because they will vote for me.
